Internships & placements
Penultimate year summer internship
Salary
- £355 per week plus territorial allowance where applicable
The role
Based for seven weeks either in one of our banks or commercial centres (we'll do our best to offer you a convenient location), this isn’t about giving you a project and leaving you to get on with it. It’s about putting you into the team, and giving you first-hand experience of working directly with our customers. As such, it will give you exciting and challenging work experience, as well as the chance to explore our world of work and opportunities.
You’ll receive:
- Induction training
- Hands-on experience and on-the-job learning in your team
- Regular feedback to help you develop
- Real-life work, to build your business skills
If all goes well, you’ll have the opportunity to attend a graduate assessment centre – a big step towards joining one of our graduate programmes after university. If you are successful at the graduate assessment centre, we will pay you a further £2,000 when you join us.
Entry requirements
To join the programme you will need:
- To currently be an undergraduate – either in your second year at university, or third year if yours is a four-year course
- A minimum 2.1 honours degree or equivalent (predicted). This can be in any discipline
- A minimum of grade C for both Mathematics and English Language GCSE (or equivalent)
- A minimum of one position of responsibility held at university or school (e.g. Vice-President of a society, Team Captain, Secretary, Treasurer etc.)
- A minimum of two months' customer-related work experience. This could include face-to-face or telephone contact with the public/customers/clients. It can be part-time or voluntary and need not be over a continuous two month period
- The right to work in the UK without the need for an Employer's Sponsorship Certificate. (If you are unsure, please visit the UK Border Agency website at www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk). For this role, HSBC is unable to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship
